In 1922, a group of Ocean City businessmen formed the Ocean Front Hotel Corporation. The first meeting, held at the Atlantic City Country Club, included prominent citizens of the day.

At that first historic meeting, the group decided to build an elegant seaside hotel that would rival the finest hotels in America. The Spanish Mission Revival design was the concept of renowned local architect Vivian Smith, and set a classic tone for the future development of Ocean City.

Today, The Flanders Banquet & Conference Center is owned and managed by the Ocean City Partners, a latter day group of prominent and respected area business leaders. The group includes the Fraser family, former owners of the elegant Atlantic City Country Club and current owners of Mays Landing Country Club.
